Welcome to the LAKELAND RC Club Website

A Radio-Control Model Airplane Club

Located in Oconomowoc, WI

Welcome to the Lakeland RC website.

For those just dropping in, the buttons on the left-side of the page are links to pages within the site.  Some buttons, like the "Events" or "Club Gallery" buttons, have pages within the page.  Please "click away" and tour the site.  If there is something you are looking for but can't find it, please send a note through the "Contact Us" button and let us know.

Thanks to Rick May, the "About Us" page now has a few images of the flightline from the air, be sure to check them out.

Let us help you!!  Click on the "Old Planes?" button on the left for more information.  We will put your old plane/s to good use either for members-in-need or refurbish them for the club raffle.  It doesn't matter what kind of condition they are in!  We always have people willing to rebuild those "ugly ducklings".

So many planes, so little time....

Club Meetings
Club meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month at 7:30pm in Oconomowoc, WI.  If you have an interest in attending any of our meetings, please send us a note through the Contact Us link.

This time of the year has to come around, alas, it's building season.  The Lakeland RC Club flying field is officially closed to vehicular traffic.  For more information on options for Winter flying, feel free to drop us a line or stop by and attend one of our club meetings to see who is flying what and where during this time of the year.  There are members flying indoors, or adding floats or skis to their planes to stay out and play.

LiPo Battery Tip: For those of you that do not fly in the Winter, remember to put your batteries at a safe/storage charge level.  The following information comes from Maxamps.   (http://maxamps.com/lipo-care.php)

If you don’t plan on using your lipo pack for longer than a week, store it at 60% of the pack’s rated capacity.  Make sure to cycle your packs at least once per month since leaving them on the shelf for a prolonged period of time can cause performance issues due to increased internal resistance in the cells.

Leaving your batteries "topped off" can lead to premature failure of your pack.
